Voters Remove Iowa Supreme Court Justices

On April 3, 2009, the Iowa Supreme Court stunned the nation by upholding a Des Moines district judge's ruling that Iowa's law against gay marriage violated the Iowa Constitution by denying equal protection to gay couples. On November 2, 2010, Iowa voters--57% of whom disapprove of gay marriage, according to exit polls--voted to oust the three justices who were up for rentention.
