Parents File Class Action Over Contaminated Similac
The mother of a newborn baby boy has filed a class action lawsuit in federal court in Chicago claiming Abbott Laboratories, the manufacturer of Similac, engaged in deceptive business practices by failing to disclose to consumers that Similac contained beetles and beetle larvae immediately upon discovering the contamination.
The suit claims that Abbott knew about the contamination six days prior to announcing it to the public and that numerous babies became ill unnecessarily during the time that Abbott withheld the information about the contamination. Abbott issued a massive recall of Similac in late September.
