Wrong-Way Crash in Cedar Rapids Flips Jeep on Its Roof
On October 26, 2011, a wrong-way collision in northwest Cedar Rapids occurred, flipping a car onto its roof. According to police, two vehicles collided underneath the Interstate 380 overpass, because one car was headed the wrong way on a one-way street around 10:45 p.m.
According to Cedar Rapids police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, Dana Gilleland, 22, was traveling northeast on E Avenue NW in her green Ford Escort when 19-year-old Megan Mumin, of Cedar Rapids, collided into her.
Mumin was driving a red 2007 Jeep Liberty eastbound, the wrong way, on F Avenue NW and attempted to turn right onto First Street when she hit the Ford.
Upon impact, the Jeep went flying through the air, rolled onto its roof and slid several feet, coming to a rest on the median on First Street NW.
Gilleland was injured and taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids for medical care. The two occupants that were in the Jeep were also taken to an area hospital for medical treatment, and one of them complained of hand pain.
There is no word on the medical conditions of any of the occupants involved in this crash.
Police confirmed that no alcohol was involved in this accident and there were no life-threatening injuries. They did issue the driver of the Jeep a one-way street citation.
The Law Offices of Brady Preston Gronlund would like to wish all involved in this Cedar Rapids car crash a full recovery.
