Driver Dies After Suffering a Brain Injury in an Eastern Iowa Crash
In late November, a Hiawatha man died in an early morning auto accident due to a brain injury in Iowa. The fatal accident occurred on U.S. Highway 20 near Gilbertville at mile marker 241 around 2:45 a.m.
A witness told the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office that the driver was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when he began drifting onto the shoulder and back onto the road. The driver then overcorrected, causing him to lose control of the car which resulted in the vehicle rolling over several times.
When rescue workers arrived on the scene, medics took the victim to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where he was pronounced dead. According to authorities, the driver died due to the severe head injuries he suffered in the crash.
Authorities identified the driver killed in this tragic Eastern Iowa crash as Jonas Gallardo-Parra, 40, of Hiawatha.
The police have not indicated at this time if alcohol or drowsy driving were factors in this accident.
The Law Offices of Brady Preston Gronlund would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jonas Gallardo-Parra and wish them strength during this difficult time. We would also like to remind Eastern Iowa drivers not to get behind the wheels of their vehicles if they are drowsy or intoxicated.
