Fund for Robo-Sign Victims Being Considered
Major housing lenders are currently under investigation for "robo-signing" documents in foreclosure proceedings, and the Iowa Attorney General's Office now states that a fund for victims of robo-signing is under consideration.
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller stated Tuesday while testifying before the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee that his office viewed robo-signing as a serious issue:
"We view this as a chance to solve some or much of this problem that has built over the last three years. We want to figure out a way that leaves the situation a lot better than when the mess started," he said.
